Ithaca is not a place where people are inclined to let sleeping dogs lie.

So it should come as a surprise to no one that members of the area canine-advocacy entity known as the Tompkins County Dog Owners Group - a clever TCDOG for short - launched an effort last month to revive plans for a local dog park. The group, which claims 200 members, brought about 50 people to the city's Community Neighborhood Services Committee to press for an official off-leash area for dogs and dog lovers.
